NHS App

The NHS App can help you order medicines and book appointments.

What you can do with the NHS App

You need to prove who you are to get full access to the NHS App. With full access you can:

  • Order repeat prescriptions and nominate a pharmacy where you would like to collect them
  • Book and manage appointments
  • View your GP health record to see information like your allergies and medicines (if your GP has given you access to your detailed medical record, you can also see information like test results)
  • Book and manage coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations
  • Get your NHS COVID Pass (there are also other ways to get your COVID Pass)
  • Register your organ donation decision
  • Choose how the NHS uses your data
  • View your NHS number (find out what your NHS number is)
  • Use NHS 111 online to answer questions and get instant advice or medical help near you

Digital Access

If you feel you struggle with using smartphones or accessing information digitally, we have the following resources to help you:

  1. https://www.ageuk.org.uk/our-impact/programmes/digital-skills/ – for older people over 60: Weekly one-to-one support sessions on Thursday 12pm, helping older people gain confidence in using a smartphone or digital device.
  2. CityLit – taught in BSL: Free online computing classes at different levels for Deaf people, taught in BSL.
  3. Groundwork ‘Silver Connections’: Free 6-week course via Zoom for residents in Hackney, aged 60+, to learn smartphone top tips.
  4. Healthy Generations: Online digital class every Wednesday, 4.30-5.30pm, for older people.

NHS Inhaler Waste Campaign

Every year thousands of unused inhalers end up in the bin whilst some patients end up in hospital due to under treatment or improper inhaler use. Wasted or unused medicines is a growing problem in the NHS that you can help tackle. Waste costs the NHS an estimated £300 million every year which could be used for more hip operations, cancer treatments etc. - learn more.

Only order what you need, your GP/Nurse will always prescribe enough to meet your clinical needs. If you order less or more than recommended you may need a clinical review. Help us, help you!
